Un marco de diseño inclusivo para estudiantes novatos en diseño de bioingeniería y rehabilitación

Resumen
Un marco de referencia se testeó en un curso de diseño de bioingeniería para ayudar y guiar el diseño inclusivo en torno al tema de la rehabilitación. Se animó a los estudiantes a adaptarlo y usarlo como elemento fundamental en puntos clave de sus proyectos. Algunos alumnos participantes en el estudio habían vivido experiencias con rehabilitación y algunos también con diseño inclusivo. El marco ayuda a desarrollar comportamientos empáticos y de cuidado durante un proceso de diseño. Por ejemplo, los estudiantes entendieron que las soluciones de diseño inclusivo para prevenir lesiones deben tener en cuenta las situaciones de la vida de las personas (por ejemplo, diseñar para mujeres de mediana edad con obligaciones familiares que también son el sostén de la familia) o que, para una persona con discapacidad visual, las soluciones deben ser sencillas, flexibles, no estigmatizantes y fiables. El marco permitió a los estudiantes mantener la salud y el bienestar de sus usuarios como eje del proceso de diseño, lo que mejoró los resultados del diseño al final del proyecto. La retroalimentación a través de entrevistas y encuestas sobre su efectividad demostró que una herramienta de este tipo es necesaria. Sin embargo, quedó claro que no es una herramienta de autoaprendizaje y se requiere la intervención del docente, la explicación y el estímulo del propietario del marco para que se utilice por completo.
