About the Journal
Base, Diseño e Innovación is a refereed, bilingual and open access academic publication created in 2014 by the School of Design of the Universidad del Desarrollo. Its purpose is to spread the role of design as a catalyst for innovation processes that improve people's quality of life and generate economic, social, and cultural value.
The journal promotes conversations between different disciplines and brings together relevant actors from academia, industry, the State and civil organizations, and professionals and academics of design and other design disciplines. It is proposed to identify new areas of development and potential local and global collaborations that allow expanding design horizons. The topics addressed have included: Design and heritage, Design in Latin America, Design for education in the 21st century, and Design and innovation in copper.
In 2016, it won the Innovation Award granted by the Printers Association of Chile. It has also obtained public financing through the National Fund for Cultural Development and the Arts (Fondart), for the 2017 and 2019 editions.
