Professional design in Peru

Abstract
Design in Peru is a young profession with about forty years of existence. It was born in the mid-seventies within the School of Fine Arts, of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, then developed at a technical level during 1980 and 1990. At the beginning of the new millennium, it emerged as a professional university career within the School of Humanities, as Art and Business Design, at the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola. In 2010, UCAL (University of Sciences and Arts of Latin America) originated and, with the 30 years of experience of the Toulouse-Lautrec institute, seeks to raise the level not only of design in Peru, but also seeks to professionalize the development of creative thinking through other disciplines with this particular seal in the country. This opinion article tells the story of the development of this profession that, step by step, has been gaining relevance in an emerging market with the desire of professionalization in the the Peruvian market.
